Tao is 100!
Tao Porchon-Lynch (born Täo Andrée Porchon, August 13, 1918) is an American yoga master and award-winning author of French and Indian descent. She discovered yoga in 1926 when she was eight years old in India and studied with, among others, Sri Aurobindo, B.K.S. Iyengar, K. Pattabhi Jois, Swami Prabhavananda, and Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. She is the author of Reflections: The Yogic Journey of Life, a series of original meditations. You may purchase a copy in Tao’s shop.
Tao’s life has been focused on humanitarian causes, yoga, dancing, wine tasting and a series of creative endeavors in the fashion and entertainment industries including modeling, acting, and writing. As a youth, Tao marched for social justice with Gandhi and now she focuses on preserving endangered wildlife, especially elephants. Tao’s relationship to nature and the oneness of our planet inspires her in all aspects of her busy life.

Over the past fifteen years, Tao has developed into an accomplished ballroom dancer winning dozens of championships. Many of her performances are available on the YouTube platform. Tao has appeared on America’s Got Talent, Live with Kelly and Ryan and The Steve Harvey Show among other international talk and variety shows. She has been featured in Yoga Journal and O Magazine and holds Guinness World Records titles as the World’s Oldest Yoga Instructor and World’s Oldest Ballroom Dancer.
